The EMC laboratory is used for testing communication equipment, characterization of dielectric materials in time- and frequency domain, high voltage breakdown tests, thermal ageing tests and antenna research.

The lab has equipment for creating and controlling complicated electromagnetic environments. The use ranges from EMC testing to radio communication and antenna research. A GTEM cell is used to test the immunity of systems in a very controlled fashion as the applied electromagnetic field is well defined. A fast transient source is used to create a very fast voltage pulse which can be used to test equipment, or in applications where a fast trigger signal is needed.

Resources

  • Reverberation chamber
  • GTEM cell
  • Transient source with a rise time of about 1 μs.
  • UWB transient source where the time of the voltage pulse is about 100 ps
